Dr. Jane Aronson is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist providing diagnosis and treatment in New York and New Jersey.
She taught school for 10 years and graduated from Hunter College and then graduated from Rowan Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine
After medical school she did a Residency in Pediatrics and 2 fellowships, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Board certified in Pediatrics since 1989
Diagnoses
Dr. Jane spends time conceptualizing from the presentation of the child’s symptoms and sees the parent and gathers collateral information about the patient to be thorough and open to the diagnoses.
Consultations
Intake Process - Learning about the patient’s past, present and future; Collateral information is the essence of the intake.

Medication
Efficacy of treatment depends on therapy and medication. Medication alone is not as effective as medication with therapy.

Assessments & Referrals
Dr. Jane is skilled at reading Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and Neuropsychological reports.
Advocating for the child, Dr. Aronson will talk to the consultants and evaluators. She helps parents understand the evaluations. Attending school meetings in person and virtually. Advocates for families by meeting with teachers.
Dr. Jane is in touch with partners and service providers such as speech therapists, teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, etc.

• Sessions are conducted in person and home visits are routine; virtual visits are available, but not encouraged
• There is always an ongoing collaboration with team members to track and manage treatment plans through phone, text and email… not just a portal.

Dr. Jane, nicknamed by her patients, is passionate about children and adolescents and believes in the power of warmth and connection in her practice.
It cannot be overstated that social media, AI, and the complexities of modern society and culture are on her mind when she evaluates kids and their families. She loves history and is especially aware of the enormous growth and changes in pediatric and psychiatric medicine over time.

Treasured experiences working with families and other professionals in her practice gave her the opportunities to learn from teachers, social workers and psychologists.
Her work with children living without parental care in developing countries has equipped her to understand and empathize with the impact of trauma and insecure attachment in profound ways. Not a day goes by that she doesn’t recall what she has seen.

Jane, the Pediatrician
Jane Aronson taught elementary, middle and high school for 10 years and then graduated from medical school and has been a board certified pediatrician for 39 years; she recently completed a 2 year child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Children’s Hospital in June 2024 which was her secret dream for decades!
Her medical specialties include child and adolescent psychiatry, parent management and family counseling, adoption and identity work, HIV/AIDS, adoption medicine, pediatric infectious diseases, and global behavioral health.

Jane, the Advocate
Playing soccer and jumping rope were once just as important to Jane as meetings with government officials.

Jane founded and managed a nonprofit for 22 years. Her global team served over 150,000 children in 20 countries and under her leadership, 62 toy libraries were established in Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Haiti, Vietnam, and the United States.
She also deployed over 412 service learners called Orphan Rangers to mentor trademarked Element of Play program providers for psycho-social support to children living without parental care.
She creatively employed art, camp, crafts, dance, music, sport, theater, and writing programs to build in-country capacity and sustainability.

Jane, the Academic
Jane has been on faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine since 2000 in Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Pediatric HIV/AIDS. She was often a guest of the Infant Psychiatry Fellowship Program at Weill Cornell over the years and is currently back attending/teaching at weekly academic fellow sessions.
Jane has been a visiting professor and guest lecturer at many universities and medical schools including, SUNY-Stony Brook, Weill Cornell Medicine, Columbia University (Vagelos), Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Mount Sinai, Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, Rutgers Medical School, NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Tufts School of Medicine, Yale University, and SUNY Downstate. She is proud to be a guest faculty member for Unite for Sight’s Global Health and Innovation Conference for the last 15 years!
